For a long time, I find it remarkable and admirable how the girls in the pictures of Indonesian's teenage magazines are truly beautiful. Given that many Indonesian girls do not exercise much, and their weight is maintained more by diet control than heaving weights, most girls in the pictures h
ave flabs. Like a slightly bulging tummy and arms, but they still look astoundingly confident and charismatic. Even for the makeovers, the girls who do not have any modelling experience can look so darn good! Look at the following pictures!
This girl, who looks ordinary at first, is totally transformed! I love the way that she exudes this confidence and positive energy that flows right out of the page and into the heart of the readers. Noone is perfect, but she has this fantabulous air around her. I can't pinpoint what really makes her look good, the makeup or the spontaineity and the charisma that she has. Some of them do not have the 'perfect' figure, be it ultra darn supermodel-skinny or athletic fit, or whatever. The girls wear braces. But they just dun care! And I really love that. I'm assured that it's true confidence. It's not the classic elegance or sophistication that high-fashion magazines and high-fashion models try to achieve. What I see through these old teenage magazines, with photoshoots done at a time where photoshop is not widely used, is pure character. A down-to-earth character that is so carefree that it feels as fresh as the morning breeze. Yeah man this is true beauty! These girls are so wonderfully confident and charismatic that it simply shows through the expression they have on their faces, and even their body posture. It makes a world of a difference! I don't deny that the magazine people and editors will pick the right people for makeovers and photoshoot. But such exuberance and innocent freshness is totally unbeatable and it seems so natural altogether. I have no idea how they pull it together, but I guess the photographer also knows how to make the people truly happy, so they look wonderful when the picture is taken. Perhaps they are all just happy people =D No amount of makeup can compensate lack of confidence, and these girls can do without all the war paint anytime and still be beautiful.
