your light will shine when all else fades

Memories.
When the moment has passed, when the event has gone, what you have left are but memories. Memories of the times you had shared with your friends, places you've been to, people you love. You remember their names, remember the things that you did. And when you feel lonely, tired, or you just miss those stuff, the memories will come flooding back. But what if one day, your memories leave you by and by. You forgot where you put your keys. You forgot your shopping list. You forgot what you have forgotten. What if one day, you can't recognise the person sleeping next to you when you wake up? What if one day, you can't place the name to the face whom you see every day? What if one day, you are lonely, and tired, and you try to recall the good times, but they just won't come back?
When the good times have gone, what we have left are but memories. But when memories are gone, what is left of those times? What remains of us? I've been asking this question for so long, and I don't know how to answer. Sometimes I wish I can forget everything and just abandon my burdens. But then now I realise that the burdens are precious, too.
