went out with ly this time, to buy a fren a gift and to meet my sis for dinner @ taco bell. so we went to orchard and talked about stuff on the bus. and ly asked me, "do you have a standard for a friend?" referring to the standard i have when choosing my friends, i guess. truthfully, i haven't thought about it until ly asked.
and i was thinking about it.... i don't know for sure, but to me, what is most important is kindness and goodness. to me, that is the fundamental quality everyone should have. it's very idealist, but don't all of us like people who are kind and good?
a person who is not so self-centred, a person who is sensitive and a good listener. that's my idea of kindness and goodness. of course there are other qualities that falls within the idea, but to me these are the most important. a person who is not self-centred will be able to think of others before her/himself, and think for the well-being of others. one who is sensitive and a good listener is someone whom u know u can talk to, who will listen and be sensitive to how you are feeling and all... of course, a dash of humour will do the world a whole lot of good too.... it's not a standard i guess, but it's the qualities that i admire most and i feel that if i were to find a true friend, i would find a friend like that.
there are many kinds of people in the world.
1) People whom you couldn't help but love and respect
2) People whom you can learn to love and respect after you try to get to know their qualities.
3) People whom you can never learn to love and respect, no matter how hard you try.
I've seen and known all 3 types of people. and i am honoured to see and get to know people whom you couldn't help but love and respect. i've seen these people who exude such charm, beauty and grace (here i'm referring to girls. guys would fall into another sort of vocabulary.) as i mentioned to ly and kim, here's the top 3 girls in my class whom i feel are beautiful.
1) Ly
2) Fangyu
3) Enqin
Ly is like a sun, and people can't help but love her. Her cheerfulness and sweet manners make her so loveable. She's sensitive to others and she's the type who can make your day. I'm not saying these because she's one of my good friends, but it is truly who she is. You'll know what I mean if you know her.
Fangyu has a different type of beauty, the hyper, exciting type of beauty. She's another sun, and not because the sun has tanned her, but because you'll feel a lot better just talking to her. She's caring and she encourages people by doing little things, like sending cards and stuff like that. She takes care of the finer stuff, and it all comes from the heart. It's her sensitivity, sincerity and cheerfulness that makes her beautiful.
Enqin is one of those girls whom the more you look at her, the more you feel her beauty and charm. Really. Fangyu and I were on the same bus as Enqin. The more we looked at her, the more we felt she's so so beautiful. She has that charisma that few girls possess. She's responsible and she's concerned about others and pretty observant too. She's not the type who will tell the whole world about how good she is, her beauty is like a gurgling stream: quiet, soft and beautiful.
I'm so honoured, really, to have met these girls. Never seen anyone like them. If I were a guy, I would have gone after them long ago. haha. I don't know if I should mention all of these explicity >< But hey, beautiful people ought to be recognised. =)
